Last Bank Holiday (Sunday 26th and Monday 27th), saw the Sealed Knot, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary, bring the sights and sounds of the English Civil Wars to Claydon Estate, the ancestral home of the Verney family who were intimately connected with the war and exemplified the divisions it caused.
The spectacle, with a battle re-enactment, living history camp and displays was set against the back-drop of the Estate’s beautiful gardens, courtyard, and All Saints Parish Church. Despite the weather on the Sunday the event carried on as planned and was a sight to see, with muskets and canons used to full effect.
