RAF POLICE RUGBY FESTIVAL CELEBRATES 100 YEARS

The Royal Air Force centenary was celebrated on Saturday (May 19th) at Aylesbury Rugby Club with a rugby festival. There were two matches with the RAF Police taking on the Metropolitan Police Service.
There was also a demonstration from the RAF Police Dog Team, children's entertainment and live music from the X Factors Stevi Ritchie.
A little bit of history - The RAF Police can trace it's origins back to Halton Camp, just a mile from the rugby club. On 1st April 1918 several members of the Royal Flying Corps regimental police changed into a new blue uniform with responsibility for policing and security of the unit. To this day the Royal Air Force Police maintain this dual function.
