Aylesbury Hundreds Rotary held its annual Young Chef competition at Hardings Restaurant, Aylesbury College, on Saturday 3rd November, with entries from Sir Henry Floyd Grammar, Zara Navarro and India Yates, and from Aylesbury High School, Shaiyana Suresh and Iona Esslemont. Each prepared two courses, under the watchful eye, and support, of Chief Judge Daniel Richardson, Executive Head Chef at Hartwell House. The judges praised the students for the very high standard of the competition, and the presentation and taste of the finished dishes.
The winner of the 2018 competition was Zara Navarro. The prizes were presented by Daniel Richardson, Rotary President Jenny Bloom, Aylesbury Town Mayor Mark Willis, and AVDC Vice Chair Judy Brandis.
Daniel has supported and judged the Aylesbury Hundreds Young Chef competition for 25 years. and the opportunity was taken to present him with the Rotary Paul Harris Foundation Award. Recipients are Rotarians and community professionals, in recognition of their outstanding contributions, exemplifying the highest ideal in Rotary in placing 'SERVICE ABOVE SELF.'
