On Saturday (27th October) Aylesbury celebrated Mela, with the 2nd Aylesbury Festival of Lights. The event held in Kingsbury was full of colour and dancing with a jam-packed program on the day. The day was opened by the High Sheriff of Bucks Professor Ruth Farwell CBE.
There were cultural dance performances from local schools Nrithya Sangeetha Academy, Abhinaya Fine Arts, Students of Peploe Williams Academy, a shadow theatre and other local talent. Bollywood dance performer Jay Kumar entertained and got the crowd up and dancing, also celebrity chef Atul Kochhar made an appearance.
Despite the cold and wet afternoon the event welcomed everybody in a warm and friendly way, culminating in a parade of light and and a fire dance.
